Facebook has been abuzz with a news report about how nasty people can locate us, our children, our homes and so forth by the pictures that we post on the web. If the Geo Tracking function of your smart phone is enabled for pictures then you have left a breadcrumb as to your life.

Here is a link to the news story. While I think the report was more about scare mongering that actual information it is getting traction so this how to is here for you to check if your camera app has the GPS enabled. When I checked mine was not so I suspect that this is the default choice.

And to be fair we leave bread crumbs frequently when we post on line. As always common sense rules the day when posting on the internet.

So if you want to turn off the geo tracking with the camera app on your Android phone here are step by step instructions.

1. Go to your camera app

2. Click on settings. On my Galaxy III the setting icon is in the upper left h and corner.

3. Click on GPS tag

4. Choose off

5. Exit the app

And please remember once its on the net it is there forever. Nasty people will also be there. So be smart and think before you post.
